Walk along the castle wall
fall in close behind me
hear the birds, the swaying trees
lose yourself to nature.
I was once a child too
stood here with my father
pointing at the parapets
in the old rose garden.
As I grew, the castle walls
aged not a single year
but time has passed and I have greyed
the same shade as the keep.
One day soon you’ll bring your son
to this secluded hill
and smell the scents you inhale today
as you gaze at the castle walls.
You will realise with regret
that time will never stop
but castle walls can be maintained
and watch your children grow.
