The spirit sinks
below, beneath
the world
that once was warm.
The spirit speaks
alone
with his father
sharing
pipe tobacco
in a dark room.
The spirit smiles
up at his mother
as they share
secrets
over tea.
The spirit sees
the fools
he called friends
simply to waste
time.
The spirit seeks
solace
from his memories
and the will
to forget them.
The spirit surrenders
what remains
of his self
to end
his suffering.
The spirit sings
with his mother
to follow
his father
into the next life.
