Halloween’s Around the Corner

Halloween has crept up on me this year. I’ve been so focused on my day job that I haven’t taken a moment to stop, reflect, or plan, at all this month.

I’ve scarcely written anything, except for notes at work. I haven’t found any time (or created any time) to sit down and write. Another reason for this is that I feel aimless with my creative projects at the moment. I’m unsure whether to focus on an existing project (of which I have many that require edits) or to start a new one. That lack of direction and clarity with my creative writing has also trickled down into my visual art stuff. I think I’ve created two or three drawings this month, and they were throw-away doodles that I did while commuting from work.

Anyway, my intent here isn’t to complain; only to reflect.

I’ve toyed with the idea of embarking on yet another edit run for my novel Like Pigs, so it’s squeaky clean for approaching literary agents next year. I approached a few agents this month with the project, and received some good feedback that’s made me reconsider how I want the story to read.

I also have an unfinished novel/novella (I’m unsure how long it’ll end up) called Polite Society, which I may or may not pick up again this year, or leave for the next.

Aside from that, I’m collating poems I wrote over the last few years, as I want to publish (probably self-publish) a short collection soon.

There may be little going on with my writing at the moment, but I’m very excited for this weekend, as my partner and I are visiting Manchester, my hometown.

That’s all from me. Happy Halloween everyone!
