Living off the land
built by another’s hand
still we take no stand
for why should we?
Taking what we need
for one day we’ll leave
no one lives forever
so why should we bother?
When we die
do we walk on
or do we sink forever
and leave the world behind?
Dining on the bread
baked by those long dead
we can’t speak with the deceased
so why should we resist?
Carving for our greed
from another breed
no man is immortal
so why can’t we have it all?
When we die

No one can know
but everyone wants a go
at predicting the future
and rejecting the past.
